This is a minor release of toxic, the first one to be released since I took over the project. Hopefully I did not miss anything.
Still there is one important new feature debuting in this release : multithreaded rendering, to take advantage of SMP and hyperthreaded machines. By default, toxic will use only one rendering thread, just like in the previous version; to enable multithreaded rendering you simply need to edit settings/toxicsettings.xml and change the renderingthreads value to the number of (logical, in the case of hyperthreading) CPUs in your system.
As always, feedback is welcome on the forums.

This package contains the full source code of toxic 1.0 alpha–4. It also includes preconfigured versions of the various open source libraries it depends on, along with the complete source code of sheep, an open source rigid body dynamics engine (the reason to include sheep in this package is that toxic is built using sheepfoundation, a set of C++ classes developed specifically for rendering and simulation).
Complete, step-by-step compilation instructions are included in the package. Note that the only supported compiler at the moment is Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003.
Please report compilation problems (and successes) on the forums (in the Developers category).

This package contains the scene Gally by François Gilliot. This scene is compatible with toxic 1.0 alpha–2 or later.

This is a new minor release of toxic. Changes since the previous release:- The Plane primitive works again.
- The OBJ file loader now reports the correct line number when an error occurs.
- The modelviewer tool doesn't rebuild vertex normals anymore (it uses normals loaded from the mesh file).
- The Ring scene is now part of the toxic distribution.
- Files are now located in the 'toxic' directory.
- The file README.txt has been rewritten.
Rudimentary instructions concerning installation and first run may be found in the README.txt file of this release.
Questions, comments and suggestions are welcome on the forums.

This is the 3rd alpha release of toxic. The goal of this release is to fix a few minor issues of the previous one. Here are the changes:- Added the file glut32.dll which is needed to run the tools modelviewer and photonviewer (included in the release).
- It is not necessary anymore to define the TOXICHOME environment variable. The Windows version of toxic is now able to get it automatically.
Rudimentary instructions concerning installation and first run may be found in the README.txt file of this release.
As usual, please use the forums to post your questions, comments and suggestions.

This package contains the all the files needed to render the Twins scene.
The Twins model comes from the site http://www.tsi.enst.fr/3dmodels/. It is included in this package with written permission of Francis Schmitt.
You'll need toxic 1.0 alpha–2 or later to render this scene.

Here is the second public version of toxic. The major feature of this release is the new adaptive antialiasing scheme with perception-based contrast threshold.
Several other improvements have been made since toxic alpha–1: loading of .obj and .ase mesh files has been greatly improved, a few bugs that were found in alpha–1 have been resolved, and the code has been cleaned, factorized and optimized.
Please note that older scenes will need a little bit of tweaking to work with the new scene file format of toxic alpha–2.
Rudimentary instructions concerning installation and first run may be found in the README.txt file of this release.
Please report installation difficulties, program bugs, documentation errors and so on.
Update: fixed archive (all files are now located in the toxic-1.0-alpha-2/ path within the archive).

This file contains two additional sample scenes: Gally (by François Gilliot) and Ring.
To install these scenes, unzip this file into the toxic-1.0-alpha-1\scenes directory.
To render a scene, open a Command Prompt inside the directory of the scene and run toxic with the scene filename as argument. For example, to render a 256x256 image from the Ring scene, open a Command Prompt inside the toxic-1.0-alpha-1\scenes\ring directory and run '..\..\bin\toxic ring.xml'. Help concerning command line parameters and toxic usage may be displayed by running toxic without command line argument.
Update: this scene package must be used with toxic 1.0 alpha–1. It won't work with newer versions.

Here is the first public version of toxic. This is an early alpha version: it still lacks some major features, and since it has not been tested thoroughly, it might contain important bugs. It should not harm your computer, though.
Rudimentary instructions concerning installation and first run may be found in the README.txt file of this release.
Please report installation difficulties, program bugs, documentation errors and so on.
