All images rendered with toxic have been corrected for a gamma value of 2.2.
Latest images appear first.

This is another model from http://www.tsi.enst.fr/3dmodels/.
This 1024x1024 picture took 1h42min to render on an old bi-celeron 500, using toxic alpha-5 with two rendering threads.
The contrast was enhanced post-rendering.

This image shows the Twins model rendered with toxic.
The Twins model comes from the site http://www.tsi.enst.fr/3dmodels/.
The complete scene can be downloaded from the Download page.
Resolution: 512x512
Rendering time: 31 minutes.
Update: enhanced image contrast.

This image shows the photons distribution in the Sponza Atrium scene (renders below).
The global photon map has been constructed by toxic before actually rendering the image. It has been saved to disk (using --save-gpm option), and then displayed with the photonviewer tool.
photonviewer is a tool distributed along with toxic which loads photon maps generated by toxic and display them in real time 3D using OpenGL. photonviewer binaries appear in the bin/ directory of the toxic distribution.
There is another view of the same photon map here.

[Update: corrected several lighting bugs, and corrected color levels on a suggestion by François Gilliot]
Here is the textured version of the great Sponza Atrium model.
Normals are smoothed this time. Antialiasing is still an issue. Also, the image is a bit overexposed.
Resolution: 1024x768
Rendering time: 3 hours 35 minutes.

This is a rendering of the Sponza Atrium model. There is still a great amount of noise, but I am working on it. Moreover, as the mesh does not contain smoothed normals, faces are quite visible.
The Sponza Atrium model comes from this site.
Resolution: 1024x768
Rendering time: 2 hours 55 minutes.

Close rendering of the Mesh Factory tank, but this time with very high quality (16 samples per pixels, 64 sphere lights, 1 shadow ray per light: that makes 1024 shadow rays per pixel!).
Resolution: 960x720
Rendering time: 3 hours 47 minutes.
|
|
This image features skylight illumination. The tank model comes from the Mesh Factory website.
This scene will be available for download in a few days.
Resolution: 512x512
Rendering time: 32 minutes.

This scene, inspired by a scene by Henrik Wann Jensen, shows caustics rendering with toxic.
Resolution: 1024x1024
Rendering time: 1 hour.

Thanks to Pistols for this great model.
Resolution: 1024x1024
Rendering time: 2 hours 24 minutes (due to the depth of field).
Update: new render with lighting bugs corrected. It is nice to see that current toxic build is now two times faster than the build of alpha–1 release.

This is the original Cornell Box rendered with toxic.
Exact Cornell Box specifications may be obtained from the Cornell Box Page.
Resolution: 1024x1024
Rendering time: 56 minutes.
